2 Corinthians 9:6-9

"Here’s the point: he who plants sparingly also harvests sparingly. Each should give according to what he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God has the power to provide you with every gracious gift in abundance, so that always in every way you will have all you need yourselves and be able to provide abundantly for every good cause — as the Tanakh says, “He gave generously to the poor; his tzedakah lasts forever.”

Statement of leadership and fiduciary Commitment

Congregation Ahava San Antonio takes its fiduciary responsibility seriously. Serving on the CASA Board is a legal governance responsibility and a klei kodesh (sacred honor). We hold assets in trust for current members and future generations.

Our Jewish ethical values guide our actions and deliberations:

Pekidut (Sacred Stewardship) and Financial Care

Duty of Care: We honor this by active engagement, preparing for and attending meetings, rigorously reviewing financial statements, and safeguarding the Kodesh Kodeshim (holy resources) entrusted to us by our community.

Tzedek v'Yosher (Integrity, Loyalty, and Avoiding Conflict)

Duty of Loyalty: We place the interests of the congregation above our personal, business, or family interests. We act with righteousness and honesty, ensuring absolute transparency, and recuse ourselves from deliberations where conflicts of interest may or do exist.

Shmirat HaLashon (Guarding Speech and Privacy)

Confidentiality: Board members are privy to sensitive spiritual, pastoral, financial, and employment matters. We honor the values of guarding ones tongue and avoiding Lashon Hara (harmful speech).

Derech Eretz (Obedience to Mission and Law)

Duty of Obedience: We ensure full compliance with CASA's bylaws and all applicable municipal, state, and federal laws, as well as the standards of a 501(c) non-profit. We act with civility, respect, and ethical conduct, representing the congregation with dignity in the public eye.

CASA's fiscal procedures include:

  • Two unrelated people count tithes each week, overseen by the CASA Accountant/Treasurer who keeps track for tax purposes.
  • Fiscal Report Budgets are made available to members on a quarterly cycle.
  • Anonymous Giving - Congregational Leaders are not told who gives what.
